Current Volunteer Needs
It is that time of the year again. We need YOU to be a summer reader for
our kids in our Out-of-School Summer Program. This program starts on May 28
and will end August 9. Each weekday, from 4-4:30pm we are looking for
community leaders, supporters, and friends to be a guest reader. Our kids
are ages 5-13 and your reading selection can be a story about a historic
event, figure, something that imparts a life lesson or whatever you think
appropriate. We do have some books here that you can select from, or you
can bring your own.
This is not only an opportunity to read to our kids, but also to tell our
children what you do and how you got where you are today. It is a chance to
have a positive impact on our young people and plant the seeds of career
opportunities. We want this to be an interactive engagement for everyone.
We would ask that you choose one day in the summer and plan on sharing your
life experiences and read for at least 20-30 minutes to about 60 kids.
The Malone Community Center is always in need of volunteers. Let us know if you'd like to lend a helping hand! All you need to do is stop in and pick up an application.
We currently need volunteers for the Out-of-School Program, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Would you rather volunteer for something else? We also accept applications for other areas, including office and janitorial.
